The 30th International Conference on Lexis and Grammar will be
organized by the Department of French Studies and Modern Languages in
the University of Cyprus, in Nicosia (Cyprus), from October 5 to
October 8, 2011.
The conference welcomes innovative papers on the formal description of
languages, as well as on the construction, management and use of
language resources, including manually constructed lexicons and
grammars. In addition, it aims at bringing together linguists and
computer scientists.
The conference will combine a general session and a thematic session.
The thematic session of the 30th International Conference on Lexis and
Grammar is dedicated to Light/Support Verb Constructions, including,
but not limited to:
* V N, Adj, ... light verb constructions
* Applications (text mining, information retrieval, and so on) for
Natural Language Processing of Light/Support verb constructions
* Type of meaning light verbs contribute (e.g. aspect, inception,
intensification, register)
* Rise of metaphor
* Determiner constraints for the predicative noun (e.g. zero article)
* Defining characteristics, formal characters and formalization of
Light verb constructions
* Light verbs and argument structure
* Collocations
* Diachronic vs. synchronic perspective
* Terminological aspects and implications of the labels Light verb,
Support verb, Funktionsverb etc.
Submissions for the general session may address any of the usual
topics of the conference:
* predicate-argument structures
* the interface between lexis and grammar
* exploitation of language resources (including manually constructed
lexicons and grammars) for language processing (including information
retrieval, information extraction, parsing)
* language resources concerning lexis or grammar.
Keynote speakers: Andrée Borillo (University Toulouse-le-Mirail,
France), Margarita Alonso Ramos (University of La Coruña, Spain),
Raffaele Simone (University of Rome 3, Italie).
The conference languages are English and French.
